Your lucky, I'd almost give anything to have Wolfpup say to me.... "Dad, Lets go shoot bows today." Those days are long gone, as is my lil hunting partner. Maybe one day. I can only hope. But I sure have some great memories of the times we did share afield.
At the age of 10 or 11 she could blood trail better than most guys I know. One trip to the Island of Lanai, we had 4 days to go hunt deer, I bought her her own set of Bino's ( I have them now) We went out scouting (as it was too late to go hunting due to our flight landed on every Island for a stop over, Ice Cream on every stop Oh yeah !!) and I said look at the the deer over there..... Where Dad?.. came the response. I got down on the side of the road and put my binos on the guard rail, she looked in and saw the deer, then I said slowly look over the bino's and look at the deer so you will know what they look like in the wild.
Just as she looked over the bino's the deer herd started walking (just for her). I guess they just popped out to her, she said, Hey dad I can I see them......so thats what they looked like.
She said look...there's deer.. there's more over there.... here's deer.....there's deer........ she was a natural !!
Biggest thrill, was when we were sitting above the trail and she was running the video camera, I was looking 300 yds away at the deer coming down the side of the hill, When a skinny little arm came beside my head pointing ahead and a little voice said "Dad, deer 20 yrds coming at you" I shot the deer at 3 yds. she tracked it, and what a grand hunt it was.
Best thing? She was so excited she forgot to video the shot.
